Barbara King
Barbara took courses in color, drawing and interior design when she attended Kansas State University.  She resided in El Paso, TX for a number of years where she exhibited in the El Paso Art Association, the El paso Museum of Art, El Paso West Side Art Guild shows and Juarez, Mexico.
Leaving  El paso in 1989, she moved to the Mimbres Valley near Silver City, N.M. and took several workshops at the Whipple Gallery in Silver City.  She also took watercolor and oil from Mona Tanzola in Silver City.
Since returning to her native Kansas, she has attended art workshops in watercolor and pastels given by well known artists, Ken Hosmer, Bob Rohm, Bonnie Casey, Jerry Seagle and Tony Couch.  Her work in watercolor and pastel has been accepted in juried shows in Kansas and Nebraska and has won several awards.
Her subject matter at this time is mostly landscapes, though she does portraits in pastel.  Barbara has become very fond of painting pastel landscapes and is still struggling to master watercolor.  She has had a yen to create art since childhood and finally, now that she is retired from the business world, can indulge her spirit in the creative world.  Her works reflect the years spent in the Southwest with subject matter and color.
Barbara's works are in private collections in Texas, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Michigan and Kansas.
